Layer via Copy/Cut

GIMP 2.8 Python Plugin.
Copy and move the selected area to a new layer in the same position.

This function is similar to the functions with the same names in Photoshop, and more powerful. Unlike them, it can copy/cut content, not just from one layer, but also from the layer groups.
In Photoshop, this is not possible :)

Show Layer Information

This small script shows some information related to the current selected layer. This info includes:

- The layer's name
- The layer dimensions (in pixels)
- The layer offset respect the origin of the whole image (in pixels)

You can go to View->Layer info menu option to show the layer information window. The window stays on top, so the user can switch between the different layers of the image to inspect their values easily.

Scale Layer to Image Size

GIMP 2.8 Python Plug-in.
This plug-in scales the contents of the layer (or layer group) to image size.

Installation Instructions:
1. Extract "scale-layer-to-image-size.py" from .zip archive to the ".../.gimp-2.x/plug-ins/" directory.
2. Make sure that the extracted file is executable.
3. If you are already running GIMP, close and reopen it.

Export layers (repeatable)

Export all (or only visible) layers as individual image files.
V.0.1 (20120513) - based on the plugin "Export Layers" version 0.5 by Chris Mohler.

Difference:

  • You can perform a task repeatedly, because the dialogue does not close after export finishing
  • You can choose either PNG or JPG file type (other types could be easily added)
  • You can merge the selected layers before exporting
  • You do not need to worry about the file name, because the script can automatically add a number to the filename

Create Texture Atlas and Map (export layers and call Sprite Sheet Packer)

This plugin will export the layers in your image as png files, using slightly modified functions from Chris Mohler's Export Layers as PNG plugin, then run Sprite Sheet Packer on them to generate a texture atlas and corresponding map (text file).

Important: Sprite Sheet Packer is needed for this, as well as my Miyagi skin exporter. I have attached it here, but you can also download these binaries from this link.

Combine Active Layer with all Layers

I created a new version ot the layer-combine-with-all-layers script.

This is a complete new script.
Although the menu looks nearly similar, it is as different as the complete script is.
The discription of the function is more logical and the actions give a logic output.

Remember to remove the old layer-combine-with-all-layers.scm from your scripts folder if you have already downloaded it.

The script works for GIMP 2.7+ and is tested in windows 7.

Layergrid

This Python plugin simply can lay out all layers of an image into a grid (with the grid settings changed to reflect the old image size). And it also does the inverse, creating one layer for each grid cell in the image. This can be useful for things like a sprite sheet or glyph sheet and I didn't find anything similar.

Traditional Animation - GIMP Lightbox

The Lightbox scripts have been created to make animating 'Frame by frame' easier and more intuitive in Gimp.
It does this by trying to emulate animating traditionally.

The scripts helps organise layers into separate sections allowing Frames, Colour and Backgrounds.
These can all be added and organised from the Animate menu which the script adds.

These layers can then be viewed, composited and exported as an moving animation, .gifs or .tif image sequences for editing.

Luminosity Masks

Tony Kuyper describes a great way to manage tones in Photoshop that he calls "Luminosity Masks." See http://goodlight.us/writing/luminositymasks/luminositymasks-1.html for his thorough description of how they work and what they can do. I have implemented and extended them in this Gimp plugin.

Installation:
Put gimp-luminosity-mask.py in your Gimp plugins directory. Usually this is ~/.gimp-2.x/plug-ins. Restart Gimp.

Usage:

Sprite tape & de-tape

Based on sprite tape - 0.3, these two scripts are complementary.

sprite-tape converts multiple "frames" (think animation frames) one per layer to an image of an array of "frames" in a single layer with a specified gutter between frames. sprite_tape-0.4 differs from 0.3 in the way that the gutter between frames is created.
