B&W Channel Mixer Settings (Film Emulation)

As part of a larger series on B&W grayscale conversion in GIMP, I wrote a second script that automatically generates layers using each of the commonly defined film emulation channel mixer values...

True PseudoGray

A script-fu implementation of the Pseudogrey encoding as presented originally by Rich Franzen, and brought to my attention by gimpchat.com user lylejk in this thread.

I've written up a blog post as well detailing the method and how it's derived.

Maximize Local Contrast

FX-Foundry/Photo/Enhancement/Maximize Local Contrast...
Like Stretch Contrast, but instead of using the minimum and maximum pixel values from the entire image, uses the minimum and maximum in the vicinity of a pixel to compute its new value. Takes a while to run, but really brings out textures. Result is a Grain Merge layer that adjusts values of the original image.

This filter operates on the visible image, not on a layer or selection.

gimp-netpbm2gimp-plugins and Netpbm2Gimp

gimp-netpbm2gimp-plugins is a collection of over 200 GIMP plug-ins produced by running the source code of the Netpbm graphics filters through Netpbm2Gimp, which is described below.

WebThumb

Creates a separate thumbnail of the selected image file(s), pre-pends 'th_' (color image) and 'thgs_' (grayscale image) to the filename. WebThumb takes maxPixels as the maximum size of the largest aspect of the image, and then sizes the opposite aspect to maintain the original ratio.

BW Labs

This is another script for converting a picture to black & white. The decompose plugin must to be available. The way of converting the picture is rather different than what other plugins do. Two different luminance layers are mixed according to a mask made with a saturation layer. Six different combinations are provided. Functions are available under the menu script-fu/Photography/BW Labs.

Batch Convert to Tif-grayscale

Converts every jpg-, png- and tif-Image into grayscale-Tif's, uses unsharp-mask and adjusts levels for offset-printing; works also in Subdirectories.
