To be easier is the install of Python support in Gimp 2.4 in Windows XP or VISTA
Easier because here there is everything needed , (step by step how to included) all in a single pack.

So Install python for Gimp may is simple as double click on a installer.. only that has to be done 5 times, and during the process the computer restated twice...

But again "how to " is included and is step by step

there is a pre-compiled windows version of this well know plugin but was available only from a Japanese webside.

For some reason the freetype plugin, quite useful to edit text and fonts, was removed from gimp-2.4 , and many miss it Work well with Gimp-2.4 (at least on Windows OS)

GAP ( Gimp Animation Package ) 2.4.0 for Windows XP Vista (and Gimp-2.4.x )

This is not a new plugin but i think useful post the download link
Windows users often don't know how compile from source and this Windows installer is hard to trace even by Googling
Most of links will lead to the only official installer "gimp-gap-2.2.0-set-up.zip" here but that is a obsolete version that will not work with gimp 2.4.)

A set of plugins and scripts for astronomical image processing

Not intended for scientific image processing, due to gimp's 8bit depth restriction (for "pretty pictures" only).  read more »

Scripts:

• Set mode for all layers
• Set brightness / contrast for all layers
• Normalize all layers
• Subtract dark frame from each layer
• Divide all layers by a flat field
• Draw border with image information

Plugins:

Draw a precise arch at point specified.
