LSE 2.1r1

Current version: 2.1r1 (Updated 08.12.2012);
Legacy version: 2.1 (For gimp 2.6 users);

Status: developing

Description:
LSE - is a powerful script for creation effect of the lightsaber. This script use only GIMP procedures and don't require any external scripts or plug-ins. Script doesn't has any license, so you may use it's code for any purpose.

Main features:

fourier (new)

A simple plug-in to do fourier transform on you image. The major advantage of this plugin is to be able to work with the transformed image inside GIMP. You can so draw or apply filters in fourier space, and get the modified image with an inverse FFT.

layers-slices - A slicing tool based on layers instead of guidelines

This script is meant to cut an image is smaller pieces and save these images automatically based on the size and names of specific layers, images to be used in web layouts.

Other options I found are based on guidelines. This approach has 2 drawbacks for me :

gimp-plugin-astronomy

A set of plugins and scripts for astronomical image processing

Not intended for scientific image processing, due to gimp's 8bit depth restriction (for "pretty pictures" only).

Plugins:

  • Align layers using center of brightness or 2D (fourier) cross correlation or gauss fit, subpixel-resolution, with de-rotation!

Loader for NASA/ESA PDS/EDR images

This plugin loads NASA/ESA PDS/EDR images.

PDS/EDR format is the image format used by NASA Planetary Data System
and by ESA Planetary Science Archives. PDS images from various space
missions are available at http://pds-imaging.jpl.nasa.gov/ and
http://www.rssd.esa.int/index.php?project=PSA

Liquid Rescale

This plugin aims at resizing pictures non uniformly while preserving their features, i.e. avoiding distortion of the important parts.

plugin example

For example, you may turn a normal picture to panoramic without stretching the content.

The plugin supports manual feature selection, and can also be used to remove portions of the picture in a consistent way.

UFRaw

The Unidentified Flying Raw (UFRaw) is a plug-in to read and manipulate raw images from digital cameras and to load them into the Gimp. UFRaw reads raw images using Dave Coffin's raw conversion utility - DCRaw. UFRaw supports color management workflow based on Little CMS, allowing the user to apply ICC color profiles.
