Erosion Sharpen Script

This script sharpens an image with the built-in GIMP plugins erode and dilate.
These two plugins infiltrate the image with the lowest/highest pixel of the closer environment, but never higher or lower.
http://docs.gimp.org/en/plug-in-dilate.html
http://docs.gimp.org/en/plug-in-erode.html

This means, they can be used to sharpen an image w/out halos.

Advanced Unsharp Mask

Sharpening tool, uses blurred mask. Sharpness is modified with few sliders that work like a kind of equalizer. User can control blurring parameters (radius and treshold for selective blur mask). It provides 4 types of output: Sharpenned image, mask, split/comparision mode and mask-to-img differences.
Brightness of image can be affected by levels-like tool that works indirectly - via the mask.
See attached screenshot for more info.

Plugin is multithreaded.

Sharp Blur

From the script site "http://www.complang.tuwien.ac.at/schani/sharpblur/":

The purpose of this script is to blur an image while retaining its edges. While this may seem like a contradiction, it really is not: sharp edges get preserved while soft edges are discarded.

The main area of application for this script has been the retouching of bad scans, but it has many other areas of use.

Smart Separate Sharpen

Implements a new version of smart sharpening (redux) combined with separate sharpen to give better results. Thanks to Michael Kolodny for working on this.

Updated to work with Guimp 2.8.

EAW Sharpen Plugin

EAW Sharpen is a filter which sharpens an image without annoying halos.
It's based on Mikes Python plugin:

Detail enhancer.

A simple detail enhancing/sharpening filter based on my simple bilateral code. It is essentialy a low precision version of the detail enhancement stage of some local tone mapping algorithms.

In non technical terms this is basically the anti surface blur. It takes a surface blur as a base layer, compares it with the original image and magnifies the differences. It brings out textures and makes skin look pretty horrible.

It will appear under:

Filters->Enhance->Enhance Details...

Windows version provided by Francois_C. Updated.

LAB Sharpen

This script does LAB sharpening using the unsharp mask in the luminance (L) layer. It decomposes the image into LAB layers, sharpens the luminance layer (using the supplied settings), and then recomposes the image. The interface is the same as the unsharp mask (radius, amount, threshold), but the filter is only applied to the luminance layer.

Sharpening

This script sharpens an image using some simpel layer manipulations. It offers a Radius and a strength operator to increase strength vs quality. I also added a simpel brightness correction in order to remove highlights created by a too high sharpening value. IT's therefore recommended to increase the correction value when increasing the strength value a lot.

UnsharpMask2.0.12 (Windows binary -source code)

This plugin is not more maintained but still works very well On Gimp 2.6 and even 2.7
Was developed by Peter Heckert , Windows binary were provided by Michael Schumacher. but the original side is offline from years and all old links dead

i am mirroring both source code and binaries to avoid it can get lost and i repost here also in the hope that may found more users and a maintainer (as i said still works very well ,from gimp 2.0 till 2.7 a maintainer may help for the future )

G'MIC : GREYC's Magic for Image Computing

The G'MIC plug-in for GIMP proposes a set of various filters to apply on your images, including artistic effects, image denoising and enhancement algorithms, 3D renderers, etc.. It is a quite large plug-in, integrating a lot of different effects.
