General Help With Gimp?

I just started using Gimp and have many questions about how to do what I thought were simple things (select a shape, resize a shape, etc.). Is this the right forum for this?

General Help With Gimp...

In general, yes - but before you ask questions, you should probably read the Gimp User's Manual first.
Many of your questions will then be answered even before you asked them.
