When I try to open a .eps file I get the following messages

Hello
I personally like Jquery its easy to use, easy deploy, easy to load on any browser and its much lighter then flash.File Renamer ,I have been searching for twitter techniques to manage and to expand my network on twitter
Gimp|Ghostscript|.eps files
Windows 7( 32 bit)
ghostscript.com>gs900w32.exe
Gimp 2.6.11
I personally could not get to the install window for ghostscript until i had defined the environment variables as GS_PROG and gswin32.exe.
control panel>system and security>system>advanced system settings>environment variables>new
After setting the environment variables as defined above i could install ghostscript
Once installed i went this route to find the new path variable
Computer>local disk>program files>gs>gs 9.00>uninstal and copied the path...C:\Program Files\gs\gs9.00\bin\gswin32.exe
I then went back to environment variables and replaced gswin32.exe with C:\Program Files\gs\gs9.00\bin\gswin32.exe
Restarted Gimp and can know successfully download .eps files
For some reason i wanted to figure out how to do this first...now i've got to start trying to figure Gimp out...
Gimp|Ghostscript|.eps files and I use Win7 64, but the
This post worked for me too with vista x64...
I had to read post "Gimp|Ghostscript|.eps files" twice AND post "I use Win7 64, but the" is part 2 of the solution...
THANKS
rickzee, THIS WORKED PERFECTLY!!! I've (barely)taught myself how to use GMP, but am SO glad to be able to edit eps files! I've never tried to get something like this to work before, so it was baby steps, and then it worked. Thanks!
THANKS!!
This would be very strange -
This would be very strange - GS_PROG is a custom variable used by GIMP's file-ps-load plug-in to look up the Ghostscript binary (usually gswin32c.exe prefixed by the path; unless %PATH% has been modified).
Can anyone else confirm the claim that Ghostscript can't be installed on Windows 7 unless this variable is set?

Hi,
My Ghostscript was already installed Vista x64 and I set the variable AFTER...
ghostscript and gimp
I was having problems as well, but it seems to work now.
I have gimp 2.0 and windows vista 32-bit. I set the environment variable to the gswin32c.exe (not 32.exe) and it didn't work at first, until I closed and restarted GIMP.
Did any of you forget to restart GIMP? Cuase that frustrated me, but its simple.
I'm currently using Windows

It worked
Star man
Works for me
It would be interesting to
It would be interesting to know if you had tried to set the GS_PROG variable before.
It would really be strange if this did work for some and not for others - this isn't an esoteric setting somewhere in the registry, and can even be tested on the command line.
GS_PROG variable.
Late to the game, but I found the solution of copying the Ghostscript exe and lib files here and it worked for me. I did try the GS_PROG variable previously and that did not work for me (XP Pro 32bit). What's also interesting is that I left the GS_PROG variable in place when I initially copied over the Ghostscript files to the GIMP bin directory and the solution did not work. I had to remove the GS_PROG variable to get it to work.
What was the value you had
What was the value you had GS_PROG set to, and where was the gswin32c.exe file located?
I use Win7 64, but the
I use Win7 64, but the environmental variable setting (sort of convoluted to get to in Win7, but not impossible) for both are the same. Mine looks like that below (the line in between Program and files is my cursor; sorry about that; lol). :)
And I expect that this works
And I expect that this works for you?
Yup; after you install
Yup; after you install Ghostscript, copy the path with execuble and create the Environmental Variable (as shown; sorry for the cutoff, but it's gswin32.exe) and voila. Might have to reboot (don't remember now).
I wouldn't have expected
I wouldn't have expected otherwise. This seems to confirm that any claims of "GS_PROG does not work" is due to people setting it to a wrong value.
I'm currently using Windows
If you tell us which
If you tell us which variable you tried to set to what value, someone might be able to point out possible errors.
Setting environment variables has always worked for me, and I can't see any reason why it shouldn't work for others as well.
Problem opening .eps files - Windows Vistas Ultimate 64
Any news?
OK, figured that out.
