hey i'm new at gimp...i dont know how to install plug-ins i just saw the tutorial in gimp animation....problem is you need gap i dont know how to install it and where to download it...please help!......

I have Gimp 2.6.4 and I wanted to know where do I place the GAP in the folders?

2 a repacked version with some useful extra

why you advice to use a obsolete version that work well only on gimp 2.2 and not on more recent version of Gimp?
sure also this will install but there are difference in something that may be installed and something that will work as should
GAP2.4 for Gimp 2.4.- for windows
well if you use last gimp you need also Gap 2.4, NOT the obsolete version GAP 2.2.0 that is the only downlodable from Gimp.org/sourceforge, that will not work on Gimp 2.4

,inside all instruction to install (is quite simple, no more complex then add brushes)
After you install is better you apply this fix

that will fix a bug in one of the plugin..is just a file to replace and simply and clear ,instruction are included.

Installer not working
I downloaded the installer from deviantart but it doesn't work, when I double click it it just says cannot execute. I'm using winrar to extract it and also I'm running vista home premium if that makes any difference. Thanks

i just used to reinstall Gap on my portable Gimp all seems OK
for install on 2.6 you have to indicate the right path during install,
and gap is not fully updated to work with gimp 2.6 and anyway installer will as default search for gimp2.4, but installer allow to indicate a different path.

Thanks for the quick reply PhotoComiX I do have 2.6 so how do I indicate the right path when installing? I only want to make a gif file using Gimp Gap so will I be able to do this given that it isn't fully updated to work with 2.6? It would probably be a good idea to look at the installer scripts made by Jernej; this should show the proper way to search for the installed GIMP.

Not sure to understand, Jernej never compiled for Windows GAP 2.4, this GAP installer was done by JamesH but for gimp 2.4,
Use it to install on gimp 2.6 or on a portable version is no too complex is just needed change the path, that is a user option of the installer
or if that sound complex create a bogus gimp.2.4 folder somewhere , point installer there and then move from there the content of "plug-ins" subfolder in a GIMP plugin folder and that of "scripts" subfolder in a gimp script folder..
A new build will be more neat but since the code of GAP is not yet updated for Gimp 2.6 a new build may give false hope to users
(all Gimp plugins that had some updates in gimp 2.6 are no more usable by Gap as animated plugins )

I have GIMP 2.4.7 portable installed and just downloaded GIMP_GAP2.4, extracted and copied the files to there portable equivalent folders.
Now what? How do start it? I don´t see any reference to it at GIMP...

Mind that for some reason 2 important GAP plugins are instead in the FILTERS menu (Filter all layer and Filtermacro)
And that in the same zip of the installer there is a very detailed tut on Gap

If you download from there ...there is also the tut inside ,in a separate and clearly labeled folder, and there is also a copy of the official GAP docs..i just checked is still there
If not ,and you download from other sources is almost sure that or is not for windows,
or that is a obsolete version, in this last case you should downgrade to gimp 2.0 to use it
