Python-Fu Plugin : How to prevent GIMP from updating my progress bar ?

I've made a little plugin in Python to scale all the images found in a folder.
This is a Toolbox plugin: it does not need any image to be launcher.
Because it can take a while, I wanted to update the progress bar with "gimp_progress_update".
The problem is that I'm not the only one to update this progress bar: some procedures also do it.

Is there a way to tell GIMP not to use the progress bar ?
Or is there a way to have my own progress bar.

Here is the piece of code that updates the progress bar against my will :

def scale(src, dst, w, h):
    img = pdb.file_png_load(src, "Original")
    pdb.gimp_image_scale(img, w, h)
    pdb.gimp_file_save(img, img.layers[0], dst, "Out")
