Cleaning 35mm colour transparencies

I'm scanning some Kodachrome Colour Transparencies (slides) in cardboard frames which are about fifty years old . They are in are in very poor condition . I have an air puffer and a quality soft brush but these aren't enough to remove the grime and dust . I don't need to perform a perfect restoration job but would appreciate any suggestions on how to better clean the film before scanning .
