The procedure "psd-load-file" Did Not Return Any return value

hi

i'm trying to open a psd file from Gimpo 2.6 in Ubuntu 12.04

i can open any psd file in windows, but trying to open in ubuntu i get this error.

why is and how could i to solve it?

Same GIMP version on both platforms?

Start GIMP in a terminal session and retry... and check if any specific messages appear in the terminal window.

I am a novice GIMP user, experiencing the same issue on a Mac OSX 10.7.5 using GIMP 2.8.0. I am not sure if it is the psd file or GIMP. Anyone willing to try opening my psd and saving it in a native GIMP format? Any other ideas on how to address the issue?
