Dithering for GIFs

Hello everyone! I have been trying for a while to figure out how to fix the quality issue that arises with indexing and GIFs, but I can't seem to find anything. I know that when something is saved as a GIF the quality will always be reduced due to the colors being reduced to 256. I have noticed that everyone (who has ps of course) uses dithering to rectify the quality issue. I have scoured the internets, downloaded various scripts/plugins, and I can't seem to find anything that will apply dithering to all layers in a GIF. Ximagic only works on individual pictures and it is just too time consuming to go about editing 20-40 layers in that manner. So! This is my last ditch effort.

Does anyone know of a way (scripts/plugins/something else I've may have overlooked)to apply dithering to multiple layers in a GIF/animation at once?

Forums:

When you convert your image from RGB to indexed, the dithering (if you asked for one) is applied on all layers...

You need to Index the image first: http://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-image-convert-indexed.html

Then you can export to a .gif with dithering.

I hope your gifs will now look beautifully smooth :D
