screenlets + gimp python plugins.

Hey all,
I woujld like a screenlet tool for a friend of mine. What they want to do is drag a picture on to a widget type thing and it spit out a processing image (polaroid looking thing) with maybe some filter effects attached. Is there a way of using gimp scripts to do so?

I can code but I'm a bit stumped by this one.
