Deskew plugin - getting it to work

I have placed the deskew file in my usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins directory (Owned by root, executable). I plan to use it with the Divide scanned images plug-in for straightening the divided images.

No matter what I do it does not seem to get installed. I can't find it in the Plug-in Browser or in the Filters drop down.

Is there anything dumb that I am missing?

Ubuntu 11.04 (64bit / Gimp 2.6.11

Did you compile this yourself or are you using a provided binary?
