Gimp refuses to launch

Gimp refuses to launch when called from the KDE menu.
Running Kubuntu Natty Narwhal
Linux 2.6.38-8-Generic
KDE SC version 4.6.2

Gimp comes installed from scratch (out of the box) but do not run.
Tried to un-install and re-install using the KpackageKit, using Synaptics and through the Konsole using apt-get.

Gimp simply refuses to launch when invoked. Then I tried trough the Konsole using: "sudo gimp" and voila!, gimp launched, but the following error appears on Konsole:

(gimp:11618): GLib-WARNING **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.28.6/./glib/goption.c:2132: ignoring no-arg, optional-arg or filename flags (8) on option of type 0

The current Gimp version is: 2.6.11

Forums:

Hello HenryGR,

I was having the same problem as you, and I also tried reinstalling GIMP. I found this fix, which involves changing your GTK appearance to Raleigh, starting GIMP, and then resetting your GTK appearance to Oxygen-GTK.

Hope this helps,
Andrew
