Bump Map x offset

Hi! There seems to be a limitation where the place a bump map i Gimp or is it me that have missunderstood the plug in?
I've got an image 1200pxX800px, I'm not able to bump map with a x offset less/bigger than -1000/1000. I would like to locate the BM at -1150px. Is there any way for a work around here?

The plugin is hard limited to +/- 1000

Duplicate the layer and perform a layer offset by -1150, then bumpmap with this new offset layer.
