Script for Shadows, Bevels, etc.

Hi, I am very new to GIMP. I am a digital scrapbook designer and am looking for an add on for Shadows, Beveling, etc. Something with the most user control as possible and CU friendly...if that's an issue/matters...Also, if you could link me to a tutorial on how to install the add on, I would greatly appreciate it!

Also, any other plugin etc. suggestions that would be beneficial to a designer? Sorry if I have the teminology wrong...
