Blend Overlay

The other night I was messing around with text and applying the blend tool on the text layer with overlay and it would make the text color the gradient color. Today it isn't doing this. What might I be doing differently?

Figured it out. I had the Gradient set to FG to BG (RGB) and needed FG to BG (HSV...)

Text Overlay

Try disabling the alpha channel before you add the gradient...it works for me perfectly.

I gave that a shot, didn't

I gave that a shot, didn't work. It just caused a blank-out of the entire text area. When I added the blend tool's overlay mode with the text layer selected it would apply the gradient to the text only.
