Seeking support for NEF file format

Hi gens,

i'm a new GIMP user, and i cannot find support for image stored in NEF file format. (the image file format used by the Nikon Cameras)
Is this because this is not supported or because i don't have a proper plug-in?
Any help would be much appreciated.

NIKON raw files

Cannot find support for NIKON raw files (.NEF) either. Any help on that?

I downloaded and installed

I downloaded and installed this plug in, but when I try to open a nef file il GIMP, it throw this exception:

/home/user/Scrivania/DCIM/100NCD60/DSC_0004.NEF: invalid TIFF directory; tags are not sorted in ascending order

what's the meaning of it? what can i do?

Plugin for Reading Nikon D90 .NEF Images

Greetings. I tried using UFRaw but it doesn't display the same image on GIMP as NikonView. In fact, Nikon had to update Capture NX2 so that it can read D90 .NEF files, so that tells me that there has been a change in their format. Any GIMP plugin for reading Nikon D90 .NEF files out there? Thank you!

I think you should first make

I think you should first make sure that the file wasn't modified or damaged. You tried all the possibilities and it still doesn't work. Here you have a resource on file extensions, I hope this will help you get more information on .NEF extension.

If there has been a change, then you should be telling the UFRaw author about this. Maybe you can help him to get this supported?
