downloading plugins and scripts

I am using firefox on xp every plugin i try to download does nothing. I am using gimp 2.6 and what i mean by nothing is when i click on the plugin my system does a brief pause as if something executes but nothing else happens. Any suggestions?

plugin (exe)and script (scm)

plugin (exe)and script (scm) are installed in a very similar way but in different folders anyway from what you wrote i get the impression that you try to install or execute the plugin clicking on the exe, that will not work, best method to add plugin ,scripts as everything else is described ,in the "how add things to your gimp" chapter here http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/beginning-with-gimp-starting-tutorial-for-... NOTE WELL example used there is for brushes but method is identical and works in windows as on any other OS...no even need to search the right folders
