tilting objects

I'm trying to find out if there is a way to tilt objects like a picture, or text using GIMP. I would like to give the illusion of depth so that distal portions of the object would be smaller than proximal portions. Do I need to acquire a particular plug-in to accomplish this task. Thanks,

I would recommend using the
I would recommend using the Map Object Filter and choose "Plane" as the object to Map To. You can then use the Z Rotation on Orientation tab to tilt your object.
