I am very new to using GIMP and I just tried to open a psd file that a client sent me but I got this error message:
Error loading PSD file: Unsupported compression mode: 13568
Anyone know how I can open this file?

I have the very same problem with gimp 2.6.5 on Gentoo Linux. And even worse, this file has been created by Gimp!
Any idea how the file can be recovered? I don't want to lose my work :-(

It could be solved in 2.6.1:

Handle this case. Fix inspired by patch from Chris Mohler.
Maybe I'm just dumb, but where do you actually get the plug-in from?
I'm on 2.6.1 (on a mac) right now, and I'm having the same problem with an image I could previously open.
