GIMP Plugin Registry

loading a picture that came from a digital camera, stored as a jpeg. Opens with Microsoft picture viewer. GIMP fails "Plug in crashed JPEG.exe" error msg is 'unsupported marker type 0xF9'. Any help appreciated. How do I get this to the person who owns ...
