Import filter for Free & Shareware Viewer

Hi
currently XCF Format can be read only within GIMP. Would it be possible that someone provide a plugin for other open or Free viewers (e.g. Irfanview) to use the files for GIMP also in other applications.

XNView can view GIMP files; free for personal use. :)
