Anyways, I'm not good with scripts in GIMP. So I'm looking for a script I can load (X) jpeg images, scale them at say 500 x 500 and save.
Can it be done? If so, puhlease let me know how it can be done.

This is something you'd use GIMP for, really (unless you do want to apply any GIMP-specific function to the images as well).
GraphicsMagick is the option preferred by command line users, advantage being that it is avaialbe for many, if not most of the currently available platforms.
Graphical solutions are available as well, with IrfanView and Xnview being among the popular ones for Microsoft windows platforms, F-Spot or Gthumb für Unix platforms.
