Layer Effects - which one?

I see there are two different plugins called layer effects (well, one is layerfx) that seem to do similar things...

I was familiar with this one:

but not this one:
http://gimp-registry.fargonauten.de/node/186

Any idea how they compare?

Interesting, their descriptions are almost identical -- have you checked them out to see whether there is any difference in usage?

that one http://gimp-registry.fargonauten.de/node/186 crashed on 2.4.5(linux), next one was not, but I have not tested it fully
