Load Images and Scale Images

Ok I'm a noob.

Go ahead and point and laugh at the noob! <---- HAHAHAHAHA

Anyways, I'm not good with scripts in GIMP. So I'm looking for a script I can load (X) jpeg images, scale them at say 500 x 500 and save.

Can it be done? If so, puhlease let me know how it can be done.

I looking for it too. I found Photolab and David Batch Processor but I'm not capable to install it. Anyway, to help you in to your search; You looking for a "resize batch script". If you find something, give us some news.

This is something you'd use GIMP for, really (unless you do want to apply any GIMP-specific function to the images as well).

GraphicsMagick is the option preferred by command line users, advantage being that it is avaialbe for many, if not most of the currently available platforms.

Graphical solutions are available as well, with IrfanView and Xnview being among the popular ones for Microsoft windows platforms, F-Spot or Gthumb für Unix platforms.

Over at GIMPTalk - http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/script-fu-batch-resize-t9440.html, hello_earth modified redforce's script to batch resize images while maintaining the original aspect ratio. The script is intended to overwrite the original files, so make a copy first and then run the script. I have only used the script under GIMP 2.4.x and 2.6.x; however, there is a script for GIMP 2.2.x. For GIMP 2.4.x and 2.6.x, assuming you installed GIMP in c:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0, if you want all users to be able to use the script, put the script in c:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\scripts directory. If you want only a certain user to be able to use the script, put the script in c:\Documents and Settings\username\.gimp-2.4\scripts or c:\Documents and Settings\username\.gimp-2.6\scripts where username is the user. To use in GIMP 2.4.x, click Xtns->Misc->Batch Image Scale By Ratio. To use in GIMP 2.6.x, click File->Create->Misc->Batch Image Scale By Ratio.
