have followed instructions for gmic plug-in download religiously, but still can't see them in my gimp filters menu, am at my wit's end! thanking you in advance,
I saw many people struggling with the GMIC plugin not showing under the Filters menu.
Here are some tips that should help anyone still having issues:
1) If you installed the plugin with an admin account that is not the same as yours the plugin will install under the admin account so it wont show up in gimp.
In this case copy the content of C:\Users\admin\.gimp-2.6\plug-ins to C:\Users\\.gimp-2.6\plug-ins
Where 'admin' is the admin account on the PC and is your username.
2)If you have upgraded GIMP version then you will see several folders under C:\Users\admin\
For example: .gimp-2.6 or .gimp-2.8 (that was my case I had 2 folders).
Make sure to check both folders.
3) In GIMP go to Edit --> Preferences --> Folders --> Plug-ins
You need to make sure GMIC plugin was copied to one of the folders listed.
I had those:
In my case I copied the GMIC plugin to C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins, that will allow any user on the computer to access the plugin instead of installing plugins for specific users.
4)As a last report if nothing else worked, un-installing GIMP and re-install from scratch then install GMIC plugin.
When you uninstall GIMP some of the folders are not deleted ... so check that the following folders were deleted:
If not delete evreything manually.
I hope this will be helpful.
