Problems with GIF exporting

I want to make animated GIF, but export function for GIMP is broken and saving can make only native XCF files...

Image #1 - This is how it may look like, taken from documentation pages...

Image #2 - This is how it looks to me (when tried to enlarge, it shows me empty space)...

When tried to hit only the Export button and save the file, it merged the layers together... What to do?

Forums:

Hey,
I also have this exact problem and i was wondering if you had found any solution for it? Making gifs is an important (sort of) and im wondering if i should wait for a solution or just uninstall GIMP and replace it with an earlier version.

I haven't found any solution yet while wondering someone knows the solution, which may repair this issue, such as alternative plug-in file-export-gif.exe (or something similar), which may override the existing one...

I saw the same symptom, but only when I was editing an existing .gif then overwrote it rather than a fresh export. But that was on 2.8 and it only happened a couple of times. It hasn't happened since I updated to 2.8.2.

Would/do you have the same issue if you saved in .xcf format and then exported?
