How to Install, Gimp 2.8 for windows if you have a previous version already installed on your PC or notebook.

Hi. Gimp users, my name is Brandy. And I would like to know how to install, Gimp 2.8 windows installer version. If you already have a previous version of Gimp, on your Windows PC or note book.

I have Gimp 2.6.11 on my Asus, windows 7 64 bit notebook. And it runs well. That's the Windows installer that you get on Gimp home site, on the top of the downloads section. Below the orange writing, "windows installers by jernej simon etc." And I have recently downloaded, the 2.8 windows installer, at that same section of download page.

My questions are:

1) Can I install Gimp 2.8 with Gimp 2.6.11 already installed?

2) And if so, how can I install 2.8 without disrupting or interfering, with the Gimp 2.6.11, I have previously installed?

3) Do I have to make a separate "NEW" folder in my "program files" or my "programs (x86)" to contain, Gimp 2.8. To prevent it from overtaking Gimp 2.6? Or does it make a new separate folder for itself?

4) Last question, the Gimp folder, Gimp creates in your "Users" folder, does it make a new 2.8 folder for the gimp 2.8
installation? Or do I have to make a separate folder to prevent it from destroying or overtaking the previous
Gimp 2.6 folder, in Users folder?

Hope you can answer my questions. Sorry if message is kinda long. Alot of people are asking this same question, so I put this post up so they can come here to know what to do. I shall wait patiently for an answer to our problem.

Goodbye and peace.

Forums:

Do a customized installation and choose a different location and yes v2.8 create a 2.8 users folder.

Yes you can have both installed, BUT the 2.8 installer will remove your 2.6 installation, so you would have to re-install 2.6.x after installing 2.8
