Ghostscript portable questions

Does anyone here no whether or not the Ghostscript Portable package works with a locally installed GIMP? I mean it works with scribus portable and I believe it works with GIMP portable but whether or not it works with GIMP locally install is the question. Also is there anyway to find out if ghostscript is active withing GIMP already?

Don't know

No and yes. If Gimp is compiled with Ghostscript yes else not. I know that the portable version of Gimp version 2.7.4(5?) has Ghostscript installed.

Where did you get your Portable gimp? Portableapps.com or from partha?

Also is there any options one needs to input into gimp to run ghost script?

Portable Gimp: From partha.

Ghostscript: As far as I know no it runs for me without any difficulties.

yes but will not be portable, the support for pdf would get lost if running on a different pc

if you want portable copy from gs the gs904win32.exe in the gimp portable gimp folder

What folder name is that? Have you guys tried the portable apps version? Its not up to 2.7.4 but it is 100% no traces and completely registry error free. Could you explain where in that setup would the gs file go?

the version is not relevant here, once installed gimp (be portable or not, from portable apps or partha )you will see inside the main folder a "bin" subfolder just copy the exe from ghostscript there...after that you may even unstall ghostscript

as alternative you may change a environmental path so that gimp can point to your installed GS , that may be the best solution for the standard gimp but is more complex to explain , require you keep GS installed even if has no much use in WIN and bigger point and can't work for the portable
(not at soon you move it)

No maybe you confuse with my customized version "GimpVideo" that include support out of the box for pdf, eps, openraster, webp, jpegXR, flash animation , some other video and audio formats and include last GAP, MathMap GMIC, and a collection of plugin and script for animation.

and BTW is also portable and may run alongside the stable gimp

I didn't publicize much because if was not hard to assemble (basically is a clone of my gimp but revised to be easy customizable for other task ..) was very hard for me trace all the authors to credit, see if all licenses where compatible, write down a organized list of changes complete of links ..

But anyway no in Windows no other version of gimp include support for PDF working out of the box

GimpVideo is discussed here
http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3427

(i prefer give that link instead then just the dl link, because so is easier remember where ask help or report problem for that customized release )

open ghostscript folder copy GS904win32.exe (or 64 if you have gimp at 64 bit) in your gimp bin folder...that solve (you may even unistall ghostscript after only that exe is required) and your portable will remain portable and not depending from enviroment variable and libraries only in your pc
