Resynthesizer v1.0 released
This is a suite of revised and new resynthesizer plugins.
I have assumed maintenance of the Resynthesizer from the original author Paul Harrison.
This is version 1.0.
The source is now at github.com (a public repository like SourceForge). Search for user "bootchk", repository "resynthesizer." For more information, see the README and ChangeLog and NEWS files there (you don't have to download them.)
!!! The attached executables are Linux files. DO NOT download them for Windows. Also do NOT download the Python scripts for Windows (they won't work with the old resynthesizer.exe.) I have built the resynthesizer and tested on Windows, but have not finished an installer for Windows. If you are adept at building, download the source and build Windows executables yourselves.
A short summary of changes for users is:
- bugs are fixed
- alpha-agnostic: less hassle with alpha channels
- its bundled: most plugins that use the resynthesizer
For programmers:
- rewritten in C and Python, in Gimp style
- GNU build tool makefiles
- engine separated from the GUI control panel

github search was just not working, so i tried google advanced search but with no much joy, several results (including a reyinthesizer fork called" unufo") but nothing leading to your pages .

Smart Fill aka Heal Using Resynthesizer
Yes, an installer would be great for Windows users. I struggled with this for at least a few hours, and for your benefit and hopefully the benefit of anyone else who finds this via search engine results, here goes- just keep in mind your mileage may vary.
Background:
I'm running Windows XP 32-bit and Gimp 2.6.11.
I couldn't get Smart Fill script fu to work- I always got errors. To solve this I did the following:
Installed the files suggested under the "What do I need to do to get Python scripts to work?" section of the following page:

NOTE: You need Python 2.6 for the companion files listed on this page to work- they WON'T work w/ a later version)
Per instructions on the above page, reinstalled Gimp so that it would install the needed Python pieces. After doing this if you open up Gimp you should see "Python Fu" under "Script Fu" under filters.
Downloaded the below which was posted by samj in this thread:

Copied all of the files in the above zip (less the "source" folder") into the C:\Documents and Settings\[YOURNAME]\.gimp-2.6 folder ("yourname" is your windows login name).
Exited Gimp and brought it back up, and voila- it works beautifully!
Thanks to everyone who wrote all this great software- hopefully this instruction set helps someone else avoid a lot of trial and error trying to figure out how to get this up and running in Windows. FWIW, I agree that installers for apps that use Python should come w/ Python or else direct the user as to what to do- kind of like when I run a .NET program and I don't have that installed, it prompts and guides me to get .NET up and running.
Still having problems with download
So I'm having problems with resynthesizer download. Whenever I click on the link to download it keeps getting interrupted after 0.6MB installed only? I'm also confused on Python as I've downloaded several times and copied the file to the Gimp plug-in, but I don't see it showing under the "Script-Fu"?
BTW...I'm using Windows 7.

Should have stated earlier: the functions (scripts) that you've now installed are all accessed under the "Filter" menu. The "Heal" function is under the Enhance sub-menu, but some of the others are in other sub-menus.

As for using on windows personally if the binary work well will not care of a installer, doesn't seems too strictly needed in this case , all files simply should simply go in a plugin folder
Sure i may imagine problems for all the GIMP Windows users that don't have the python module installed, but in that case a installer would not change anything

Cool news. Is the new version faster then the old (just curious). Would be cool to be able to take advantage of GPU from video card, but maybe that be asking too much. lol
Can't wait til the Windows (use 32-bit right notw) of the new and improved Resynthesizer is available for Windows. :)
